PHOTOGRAPHER
Michael Liman is a New York based street photographer whose work captures the evolving spirit of urban life through layered, narrative rich moments he calls “settings within settings.” A 2025 Honorable Mention recipient at the Paris International Street Photo Awards for Girl on Orchard, The Band, and Space Man. Liman works in film and digital, color and black & white while exploring themes of place, memory, and time. With over 45 years in television and film, he brings a cinematic approach to photography.
Born in Brooklyn and raised on Long Island, Liman first captured Atlantic Beach in The Sands of Summer, establishing his focus on fleeting moments and human ritual. His book NYC Streets portrays Manhattan as both ever-changing and timeless, revealing the stories embedded in everyday interactions.
He contributes monthly to Mann About Town and is developing projects on Coney Island and in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.
